Sutcliffe's 10 billion infrastructure plan is smoke & mirrors: Sutcliffe 2.5% tax cap pledge handcuffs him; development charges don't pay for needed infrastructure repairs & upgrades (and only 50% for new facilities); debt has to be repaid. Smoke & mirrors.

#OttCity: Mayor promises to plant a million trees and ppl believe it; no where near that target achieved. Forests destroyed, farm land paved; trees planted on new roads/LRT are undermaintained and often die from over exposure to salt or can’t be planted bc we don’t bother to bury overhead wires 1/

People should know City is walking into an infrastructure crisis as years of underfunding has led to a $10.8billion funding deficit (yes you read that right). In 10 years 133 facilities reach end of life; 44 must close. Sutcliffe's 2.5% tax cap doesn't fix it. Leiper's plan does.

I keep meeting smart informed Albertans who tell me they do not intend to vote, because they don’t want to legitimize the process, or because they know the premier is not bound by the results. But what if making us give up on voting is the whole point? My argument to vote - no matter the absurdity.

Denley says: "Sutcliffe has also not supported a special levy for infrastructure, although the need for this seems obvious". Too right! Previous low tax budgets have led to under-investment in maintaining City's aging infrastructure. Either you pay me now or pay more later.
