While some people laughed about the number of dependencies in the JS world, others worked to improve the ecosystem (like @e18e.dev). Now many of my open source projects have around 20 packages in node_modules, including transitive dependencies.

This is something that surprises me. Not that you _can_ produce excellent work with LLMs, but that so many people _aren’t_. From my experience it’s quite easy to make good stuff with LLMs, my best guess as to why people don’t is that they’re having too much fun going fast.

This post from @taggart-tech.com made me think of this thread from @seldo.com. Taggart talks of being bored when using Claude Code, while my issue is the exact opposite. I find it so compelling to use that it's addictive and exhausting. My biggest problem is that I overwork and risk burning out.

I used AI. It worked. I hated it.
I used Claude Code to build a tool I needed. It worked great, but I was miserable. I need to reckon with what it means.

Rich and I just worked a combined 3 hours on a tricky bug. AI quickly found out where it breaks and proposed a fix. But it was the wrong fix - we took the time to find out what was the underlying reason and fixed that instead. Always think through what AI proposes to you.

Let's nerd about request interception in Node.js. With the new architecture I'm working on, you'd be able to intercept any HTTP request using the same interceptor. No reason to distinguish between ClientRequest or XHR or fetch. Pretty neat. 1/x

i asked claude code to write me a prototype of something using hono + jsx. i specifically stressed using jsx in the project it generated an entire project of components concatenating plain html. when asked why it switched to a clearly insecure approach (i spotted an xss), this is what it had to say
⏺ You're absolutely right — raw string concatenation is an XSS vector. Post text,
  usernames, any user content goes straight into HTML unescaped (my escapeHtml calls
  are manual and easy to miss). The original plan was Hono JSX.

We estimate that Claude Opus 4.6 has a 50%-time-horizon of around 14.5 hours (95% CI of 6 hrs to 98 hrs) on software tasks. While this is the highest point estimate we’ve reported, this measurement is extremely noisy because our current task suite is nearly saturated.

I've been trying to think of a way to reduce the flash of unstyled content (FOUC) when using #WebComponents with something I could add to my #CSS reset and not need #JavaScript. Here's what I came up with:
A CSS snippet for reducing FOUC with web components:

body:has(:not(:defined)) {
  opacity: 0;
  transition: opacity 0s 50ms;
}

Once, my friend asked me if by teaching others I'm not creating competition for myself. I get where he was coming from, but that's not how I see it. We aren't in a race, we are in a life-long hackathon. If someone levels up, everyone wins. And I win, too.

ok this is amazing i've made a claude skill that uses @bobbby.online's deciduous to generate a design evolution tree from a project's commit history. this tree is generated by Claude using the displayed prompt (and my skill). the graph ~matches how i remember it react-deciduous-example.pages.dev
a long-ass design evolution tree with nodes for individual decisions to do, choices, and consequencesindividual nodes can be expanded# Task: Build a Decision Graph for Suspense Fallbacks

Create a deciduous decision graph about how React decides when, whether, and for how long to show the fallback in Suspense.

## Scope

Look at decisions related to fallback behavior.

## Commit Range

Search commits in `./react/packages/react-reconciler` between **May 2018 and August 2020**.

Use: `git -C ./react log --oneline --after="2018-05-01" --before="2020-09-01" -- packages/react-reconciler/`

## Source Material

Use ONLY information from commits in the specified range.

**CRITICAL: Do not use your prior knowledge about React. Every node must be grounded in something you find in these commits.**

## Output

Use the `/decision-graph` skill to build the graph.

When complete, export with: `deciduous graph > graph.json`
