Yup, it's ridiculous. When I was shopping I opened a fridge and had to do a double take because it was identical to one I just looked at. The whirlpool one was white plastic and the kitchenaid one was the exact same inside with grey plastic and wood accents for $1K more

this morning I opened it up and it was 26deg, so I finally called kitchenaid for service. half an hour on hold only to be told my 2.5 year old fridge is out of warranty, and my options are a $51/month "12 month service plan" or $570 flat fee over the phone by CC before they'll even schedule a tech

my fridge has been cooling inconsistently and getting below freezing which made the water line freeze and leak all over, out the fridge, and into the basement. I stuck a thermometer in there and even though it's set to 38, it cools anywhere from 32 to 42 degrees
