Good 🧵 on recent fate mapping of mid-hindbrain boundaries using seperate lineage tracers, with authors concluding that we have two separately specified CNS regions. But we knew this for a couple decades now, and there is much more finessing of brain specification than simply “two brains”.

CBC reminds us, in case we needed it, of where the lake's name comes from. The toddler-in-chief can call it whatever he wants but he can't actually "rename" it.
From CBC news: "the lake's name comes from the Huron Indigenous people's word 'oniatari:io' (sorry can't do the special characters) which means 'lake of shining waters' and it predates European settlement in the region"

This is what I tell my students each year. Learning must be effortful, & they have to become comfortable with being uncomfortable in that process. And that the grade is not the product, it’s them & their growth. It’s an ongoing discussion & reframing, but I think it does hit home & transform some!
