I'm more than 15 years into games media and this current era is easily the most frustrating period I've ever seen. I was laid from CNET in 2022, and I've been full-time freelance out of necessity due to the terrible job market. I've found my niche and steady work, but not many others like me can.

Even when I had a full-time gig, i've felt like an outsider. I'm one of the few Black writers in this field, and I'm neurodivergent as well. So it's been weird to see that I've found stability in an unstable period. But I do feel hopeful knowing that people in this field still care deeply about it.
