Transgressive joy last night at Tiana Clark ‘s reading at Smith College from her new book SCORCHED EARTH! Her conversation with Ocean Vuong afterwards was illuminating and cathartic—you can find the recording online with the Smith College Poetry Center ✨💜✨ It was a chilly night but magical!

Public comment is now open for passport gender marker changes. You can go here to go to each of the three proposed passport rules, and submit comment. My suggestion: be unique, argue for trans-inclusive policies, against the constitutionality of the changes, etc. www.reddit.com/r/Passports/...

shout out to all the parent writers. to all the projects started and then withered because a kid had a cold, or fell when you were jotting an idea down, or started a bath and jumped in still dressed. for the conferences and fellowships and sub windows missed. shout out to y’all who keep coming back.

Hey everyone, I know it's going to be a busy day for a lot of people, but Google enrolled everyone over 18 into their Al program automatically.

If you have a google account, first go to gemini.google.com/extensions and turn everything off.

Then you need to go to myactivity.google.com/product/gemini and turn off all Gemini activity tracking. You do have to do them in that order to make sure it works.

Honestly, I'm not sure how long this will last, but this should keep Gemini off your projects for a bit.

I saw this over on bluesky and figured it would be good to spread on here. It only takes a few min to do.

“He said, you Americans are so naive. He said, you think that evil is going to come into your houses wearing big black boots and climb up the stairs—it begins in the language. Look to the language.” -Joseph Brodsky, as recounted by Marie Howe themillions.com/2018/01/tk-t...
I studied with Joseph Brodsky the great Russian poet and how do I say this, he thought we were lazy American students. We had to memorize 500 lines a week and come in and write them out for him. He
said, you Americans are so naive. He said, you think that evil is going to come into your houses wearing
big black boots and climb up the stairs-it begins in the language. Look to the language. He said, in the Soviet Union, nothing is permitted and everything is important. In the United States, everything is permitted and nothing is important.

Starting to read this collection this morning, as a client I am doing a manuscript consult for mentioned it as a collection that has influenced them a lot.
Book cover, showing a drawing of a yellow house outline, surrounded by black and blue dash marks at the top of the page, and hash marks representing grass and ground towards the bottom of the page. The collection is called In a Time of Violence, by Eavan Boland.

That time we all heard it, cool and clear, cutting across the hot grit of the day. — that we are each other’s harvest: we are each other’s business: we are each other’s magnitude and bond. “Paul Robeson” by the great Gwendolyn Brooks #everynightapoem #blackhistorymonth
Paul Robeson
BY GWENDOLYN BROOKS
That time
we all heard it, cool and clear,
cutting across the hot grit of the day.
The major Voice.
The adult Voice forgoing Rolling River,
forgoing tearful tale of bale and barge and other symptoms of an old despond.
Warning, in music-words devout and large,
that we are each other's harvest:
we are each other's business:
we are each other's magnitude and bond.

I’m a part time librarian and I just want to echo what I’ve seen other librarians say recently: there is a HUGE uptick in requests for social justice, climate justice, abolition, history, etc books and I just want to say nobody is giving up the fight. If anything people are fighting harder #library

Urgent trans and nonbinary update: I called a passport office and got a sympathetic rep who told me officially any information about gender markers is posted online. Unofficially, they *literally whispered,* they have heard the same rumors about passports being confiscated.
