📈 Green hydrogen production capacity almost doubled in 2025 to around 4 GW of globally installed electrolysis capacity. That's impressive. However, it still falls far short of the exaggerated announcements from a few years ago. (1/n)

The steel sector is responsible for a huge chunk of global CO2 emissions, eating up 20% of the carbon budget for 1.7°C under current trends. The good news: Most of these emissions can be abated at moderate costs of $100-150/tCO2. Have a look at our new paper out in Nature Climate Change today!

Cool new study looking at near-optimal solutions for biomass in a future European energy system. Biomass is particularly valuable for providing carbon, less so for energy. Also some interesting points on IAMs in comparison to detailed energy system models like PyPSA.

A 100% must-read for everyone that has ANY stakes in hydrogen. Frankly, the H2 ramp-up is not going great right now globally, and Adrian and Falko have the numbers. I think we are reaching a phase of honesty, where we have to turn the popping bubble of over-expectations into something productive.
