Visitors to the US are on track to drop by almost two million year-on-year. “We’re the only major country in the world losing visitation,” the head of the US Travel Association said. “It’s mind-boggling.” www.semafor.com/article/09/2...

I’ve been having the same breakfast snack (a whole wheat triscuit with PB&J) for over a decade and I still look forward to it every day. It’s even better when I’m truly mindful of the tastes and textures as I eat it.

It’s been said a million times but saying Suno solved music is like saying you’ve solved soccer by installing a conveyor belt that delivers the ball directly to the net and expecting people to buy tickets

Interviewer: What kind of AI do you have managing the systems in this shelter? Tech nazi: Oh, we don’t have any of that in here. I’m not crazy.

For all the hand-wringing about the effects of technology on kids, the impacts may be just as corrosive on their grandparents Most reading has been done by older Americans. In 2003, older Americans read 58 minutes/day. By last year, that had fallen to 32 minutes/day www.nytimes.com/2026/07/16/o...

It’s not the children who stopped reading. It’s their grandparents.

Book 134. Another McCloskey page-turner. Being a child of the Cold War, espionage stories/shows/movies hold a special place in my heart. #booksky 📚

Book 133. I did some self-work over the weekend, and this one stuck with me through that short journey. Although I doubt this utopia could exist in a global context, I wonder what society would look like if we weren't so severed from nature. #booksky 📚

Book 132. Although I sincerely hope it's solid, this feels like one of those books that might have the science yanked out from under it at some point, but it carried a message I really needed to hear right now. #booksky 📚

H/T Nate Ryan on FB Does anyone know this guy. My friend works at Westminster Trails Golf Course and was assaulted by this person and he and police are trying to identify him. The golf member who brought him with his group won't give a name and is being difficult. Any help would be useful. #ldnont

The very real challenge (and the place where a bubble may pop) continues to be how do you make money off frontier models which cost an arm and a leg to train while older models get eaten from behind by open weight stuff. It’s a very big problem!

There will come a day, maybe not so distant, when I’ll have to give up on the NYT crosswords because the pop culture references will be beyond me. This is the first I’ve heard of Choosin’ Texas or Langley.

Also, if the interviewer doesn’t offer you a water or beverage, that potentially tells you something important, or at least adds a couple lines of inquiry.

It’s the part where you have to take a breathe to start this process that’s the challenge. A couple thousand hours on the cushion has helped, but I still fail at this all the time.

There’s a very real chance that’s going to get spilled and destroy your opportunity. It doesn’t say anything good about your ability to plan (drink it before the interview), risk tolerance, or respect for a stranger’s space.

Canada continues to be shameful on this issue.

Screenshot shows the man in Canada's seat looking around at the other countries leaving the room all while staying seated. The country names are a bit hard to make out, but I cross-referenced this against the seating chart that's been published.
