I think this is right, also the closeness meant that the ambiguity of Leave was a structural weakness as any specific version might easily have lost against the status quo. With 60:40 you can be more confident that that means a majority for most of them

NEW: What happened in Holborn? Some constituency polling to help us understand a bit more. TLDR: loyalty to Burnham + a local candidate won the day; no real sign of tactical voting; Greens never convinced ppl they could win but Polanski not toxic necessarily. @persuasionuk.bsky.social

I cant think of anything more Keir Starmer than trying to fling one final hissy fit at Andy Burnham only to hand him a PR victory.

Love that film and I've been loving this series. The one on Things To Come summed up exactly why watching it was such a strange experience

I think for Hegseth there's an outside chance of it succeeding, decent number of GOP senators hate him and it allows Trump to blame the whole Iran debacle on him as well

I think now that circulations have collapsed it's harder to do this but I would love to poll readers of various papers to see if they're even cognisant of the daily/Sunday difference

Agree. Most polling about the triple lock until now is "why would you want to take stuff away from poor pensioners?" as a knee-jerk response on a topic voters don't think about much. It's possible now that the info environment changes so at least *some* people will have heard a case for changing it

Again, no idea which way it goes but always remember that most people don't care about most issues and poll responses are typically fairly knee-jerk

Adam Drummond @adamdrummond.bsky.social · 29/09/2026
Usually polling about the triple lock is pretty ironclad because it's based on the info in the question text. But now you have lots of "what is the triple lock?" and "why is he talking about social care?" articles, people talking about it on TV ..

No idea what the impact will actually be but I suspect we're about to see an example in polling of when a low salience topic becomes a high salience one.

Yet another begging bowl email from the Labour Party this morning. ‘There is no pretending about the scale of what we’re up against.’ If only you guys had a massive majority in Parliament and could pass legislation to protect our democracy from ‘what we’re up against’.

Lightsaber fight at the end is pretty excellent too. It's mainly that the sequels are so terrible, even Force Awakens being technically proficient is retrospectively ruined by how criminally stupid Episodes 8 and 9 are

Helpful reminder that the vast majority of middle England home-owning "Con15/15/19" voters who think immigration is too high will also see these guys as thugs and their anger at the state response will likely be at how slow and ineffective it is.
