Having Evie and HourCar available helped us feel more confident in our decision to go down from 2 to 1 car in 2021. Losing HourCar and Evie will likely negatively impact other households looking to do the same. We need *more* public investment in resources like this, transit and bike share.

If you need a reservation-based car-alternative, check out @mcbl.bike when we’re in season. It will not meet all the needs that Hourcar did, especially in the winter, but it may help fill the gaps Too.

This is devastating for car-free living in mpls. I’ve used Hourcar/Evie car share to fill the gaps at least once a year where biking/using public transit didn’t make sense. Carshare just makes sense. Allowing the service to sunset doesn’t make sense for meeting our climate and equity goals.

I want to sometimes, but most people don’t get a solid education about bikeways and e-bikes in drivers’ ed. Add onto that a lack of signage and enforcement, and I find that most people are really surprised that they’re breaking the rules. Not saying assholes don’t exist, of course.

Requiring human monitoring of underbaked, unproven technology is a simple and common sense regulation. These vehicles don't even have a way to clear their own sensors yet. These vehicles are programmed to park in bike and bus lanes. "a driver in a driverless car" is a bad faith argument.

I think car-dependency has narrowed folks' imagination for getting around. Car-free gives you more options, not less. I bike most places, but will walk, use public transit, carpool with a friend, even use carshare (Evie), or go galaxy-brain multi-modal when I need to. But that's the thing...
