I think if you needed any more evidence that the cuts are shortsighted and focused on cutting as deep and as fast as possible with little regard for the future, this is pretty definitive. That engine felt like magic in some spots. A colossal waste of talent and resources.

People highlight those leaving the industry and those trying to break in, but I also think an unspoken part of this is even the 2/3 still working are in a worse state; some being overworked to take on the duties of those cut or forced into lower paying unstable contracts with less benefits.

It’s just a damn shame so many are now lost and locked out of what they once did. It’s even more of a shame that those that had ambitions of entering this industry will never step foot in it and have to move on. Yes, there will be indie devs but it won’t be for a long while. Everyone is exhausted.
