It is truly pathetic that so many deep cuts have been made both federally and provincially to archives, libraries, museums, and the arts in Canada, by people who do not understand the value of these institutions and programs. And especially at a time when Canadian identity is under attack.

To all Americans. When Trump brags about how his tariffs are “taking in a lotta money”…. He means from you. You’re paying the tariff if goods are still coming into your country. Or if the goods go elsewhere because of the tariff, you don’t get the good at all. That’s what he’s bragging about.

So the predictable “90 day pause” on tariffs from Trump has led to a huge spike in the stock market. Whoever “bought the dip“ is making a staggering amount of money. The United States used to investigate market manipulation and insider trading. Who knows what, if anything will happen these days.

Prime Minister Carney went out of his way to negotiate a trade deal with gangsters. He held Team Canada together despite the constant insults from the MAGA gang. Canada will go more than the extra mile to find common ground but we will never bow and kiss the gangster's ring. We hold the line.

These actions are not pointless they send a message to our government and to the US administration that we won’t put up with their 💩. We may have a trade deal but I will not stop my boycott of US goods. If Canadians stand firm in their support of our home grown products, our economy will benefit.

He could’ve just said this.
PM Mark Carney’s message about Lindsey Graham (shown in full below) has been edited with a red scribble so just the last paragraph is legible.

“Senator Lindsey Graham dedicated his life to serving the people of South Carolina and the United States.

Throughout his career, he stood resolutely in defence of democracy and freedom, most recently and particularly with Ukraine and its people.

I ofter my condolences to Senator Graham's family, friends, and all those who served alongside him.”

While I'm a big fan of USA winning a soccer match,I'm very disturbed that our POTUS has put his thumb on the scale. If the U.S. does win the match, the rest of the world will see us as cheaters forever. Referees' decisions are checked during a game, not undone afterward.Sorry if this offends anyone.

On June 27, 1918, U-86 torpedoed the Llandovery Castle despite the ship being clearly marked as a Canadian hospital ship. The survivors in lifeboats were then gunned down by the submarine. Only 24 people survived. This is the story. 📸 McMaster University 🧵 1/10

Mary Simon's farewell letter.
Farewell to Canadians
June 8, 2026
Dear Canadians,
Today, I conclude my service as your governor general, with gratitude.
From the beginning, I hoped to serve as a voice of compassion and respect—one that reflects the many cultures that shape our remarkable nation.
I believe in the importance of strengthening relationships and deepening understanding among all peoples, Indigenous and non-Indigenous alike.
Reconciliation belongs to all of us. It is not only about acknowledging the past, but also about shaping our shared future. It calls for us to share our stories, to learn from one another, and sometimes to have difficult but necessary conversations. This is how we move forward together, in dignity and equality.
Over the past five years, I have seen historians and educators working together with Indigenous Peoples in developing an inclusive history for all Canadians to discover and learn.
We have faced extraordinary moments—times of uncertainty, but also of resilience and progress. I have seen Canadians come together in innovative ways, strengthening mental health through connection and culture. I have also witnessed many constructive actions, including speaking out against the online harassment and violence that continue to hinder women’s leadership.
Throughout it all, I have carried the Inuktitut word Ajuinnata—to never give up, to persevere. That spirit lives in you—in the excellence and generosity I’ve seen in Canadians everywhere.
Let us keep building bridges of empathy and connection throughout our vast country.
With heartfelt thanks.
Mary Simon

As a public policy expert for 34 years with real experience in right wing & left wing cities, I reject the false choice that Carney is “right to prioritize other things over #ClimateAction in these troubled times.” Smart leadership nation-builds & strengthens the economy WHILE building resiliency.

Does this mean I don’t support Carney politically anymore? He’s doing important things on economic diversification/relationships, is positioning Canada well internationally, and has a MUCH WORSE Poilievre & Party as the current likely alternative. But for my enthusiasm, he needs to act on climate.
