Think I asked this a while back but it anyone has any reading on auctioning the goods of the dead in 16th- and 17th-century London, and/or the role of bellmen and criers around deaths and auctions, I'd be very grateful for recommendations!

@jlkaufmann.bsky.social Tiny pincushion! 🧶
The evolving sewing kit. There is now a modular bobbin/pincushion, the scissors have been replaced with tiny thread snips, and there is another tiny pincushion with a safety pin in it with a sample button. This was a lot of fun.

#craftsky Sometimes enjoying crafting and messing with things feels like an absolute superpower. I took 6 purse magnets, sewed them together, put a little casing around them, and I now have a credit-card sized sewing kit that goes in a little pouch I have. I found my smallest embroidery scissors.🧶

Here's a lovely pic of some of the Jeremy Creatures currently available at my shop. Each one is designed and hand-sewed by me and takes many hours to create. jeremycreature.bigcartel.com
Here's a lovely pic of some of my hand-sewn, fabric art Jeremy Creatures. The ground is green fur and the background is a beautiful galaxy print fabric. One creature is a gray rock with two different sizes black eyes and a little frown. There's a tall ghost with about 35 black eyes of different sizes and a wide mouth full of sharp teeth. There's another spirit with many eyes, twirly head wisps, and an open mouth with sharp teeth. There's also a ghost with a tiny face, with two different sized eyes and a little frown. There's a black ghost with a gray moon face, their body covered with hand-embroidered stars and planets of various sizes and colors. There's a frowny white ghost featuring embroidered red flowers. There's a super tiny frowny white ghost, and a super tiny black ghost with four eyes and embroidered stars.

Book of the day is Tom Cox’s “Villager”, which is a story told thru a village message board? It sounds intriguing! I heard of it bc it’s one of the books that got absolutely fucked over by the collapse/grift/mess at Unbound but has been repubbed so has a second chance to sell now!
The cover of Tom Cox’s Villager, showing a green mountain with houses and roads and trees nestled into it, with water and other hills in the background.

#cooksky 🍜🍽️ The honey project continues! Saffron-rose pistachio baklava. Ironically, the recipe just used a sugar syrup so I substituted some honey. Honey used: random ball jar, not even a label. Roadside stand? Wildflower notes.
Baklava sprinkles with rose petals and pistachios on a rectangular white platter on a wood table.

With only 3-1/2 weeks until A Waltz of Sinister Import is published, this week's Sunday snippet comes from my heroine, who is determined to solve this supernatural mystery despite all of her vampiric husband's concerns over her safety. Preorder now: books2read.com/waltzSinister #romancelandia
Alt-text AWoSI-natural-instinct
Against a background of sinister, foggy woodland is the cover of A Waltz of Sinister Import, by Stephanie Burgis, which shows a pair of late nineteenth-century dancing slippers hanging over the title and a bat with outstretched wings underneath the author's name. Framing the cover's text are branches with golden leaves. Above that cover is this snippet of text: In times of trouble, her natural instinct was always to seek out a library.

#cooksky 🍽️🍜 @ellyzoe.bsky.social I made khachapuri! Georgian flatbread with cheese (and I put in mushrooms and peppers). Now: you’re supposed to put an egg on. My sides were not high enough. Tale of woe in alt-text. Normalize imperfection, I say. They were great though.
Here you see an oven. At the back on the rack are two khachapuri. There is an egg on the oven door. It’s not supposed to be there: it’s supposed to be on the damn flatbread. It is cooking merrily, but not where it should be. Here you see the khachapuri. They have a nice boat shape. They also have peppers and mushrooms on them. There is a strange yellow-white goo surrounding and between them. That is also an egg. It is supposed to be on the khachapuri as well.Here are the mostly eggless khachapuri on a cutting board. Whatever, they were delicious.
