Wholeheartedly agree w/those (such as Franco Panizo on the other site) who are prepared to assign <some> of the blame on local media giving up on MLS coverage to the league itself. Economic conditions in media are what they are, but the league is simply not putting out a compelling enough product.

I don't think you can sell a "new higher-quality MLS" line when 20 of 30 teams make the playoffs. MLS will try and call the first part of this system something other than "playoffs" but it's just MLS doing what it always does and placating unambitious owners who just want playoff gate revenues.

The typical (North) American soccer outcome to "Mexico leaves CONCACAF for COMNEBOL" is that CONCACAF, FIFA, USSF, and FMF all end up back in U.S. Federal court relitigating the USSF-Relevent case to see how it applies to national teams. 🙄🙄

Re: Poch, I don't really like national team managers staying on for second cycles. That said, I really can't think of a better realistic replacement (meaning not Pep). I can live with this, but I hope USSF is ready with credible replacements for when European clubs come calling.

Whether or not it kills the plan, I'd like to hear Netflix's opinion after paying $200 million for the next two women's World Cups. This would quite devalue their investment, wouldn't it. The last time terms were changed on a U.S. broadcaster, there was a quite big lawsuit threat.
