I'm one of the few people with an Australian passport who have "Sydney" as a birthplace. There are no maternity hospitals in Sydney. They are in Kogarah, Randwick, Bankstown and other suburbs. THAT's what will be in your passport. Unless you were born in Sydney, Nova Scotia and moved here.

My favourite writing activity is writing myself into a corner. Or rather, the characters. Yes, I plot. I have waystations that need to hit in each act, and less important ones in each chapter (they move around a bit within the Act). But knowing how I'm going to get a character out of a chapter...

One of the reviews of *my most recent book* commented on how it didn’t end like she thought it would and that this was good. It was released on 1 September. I cannot for the life of me remember how it ended. A MONTH AGO, I SAID. Plotting a new book really takes your brain to a new place.

I really enjoyed this book! It grabbed my attention right from the beginning and kept moving. Nick Harding wakes up after being kidnapped with no idea where he is or why he was taken, and from there the story quickly turns into a much bigger situation involving people from his past, revenge, money, and quite a few bad decisions by some very dangerous people.

One of the things I liked most was Nick’s personality. Even when he is in serious trouble, he is sarcastic, quick-witted, and constantly trying to figure out how to turn the situation to his advantage. His sense of humor adds a lot to the story without taking away from the danger or suspense. I also really enjoyed Davie and Lucy. Watching them piece together what happened to Nick and try to find him gave the story another layer and kept things interesting because there was so much happening at the same time.

There are a lot of moving pieces and characters, but they eventually start connecting in ways that make sense. I especially liked how events and people from Nick’s past become important again and how what first seems like a fairly straightforward kidnapping turns into something much bigger. There is plenty of action, some great back-and-forth between the characters, and several moments where I genuinely wondered how they were going to get themselves out of the situation.

Overall, this was a fun, fast-paced crime thriller that balanced suspense and humor really well. The characters were entertaining, the dialogue felt natural, and there was enough going on to keep me wanting to know what happened next. I would definitely recommend it to readers who enjoy crime stories with action, twists, humor, and characters who don’t always handle dangerous situations in the way you expect.
