“Dinner table” a thing. “Breakfast table” a thing. “Lunch table” … not really a thing..?

Happy to be wrong about this. Thanks for all the replies. Turns out, the name change isn’t actually *official* yet. So it’s hard to see Google rushing to change their maps as anything other than enthusiastic support for Trump. Pathetic all round.

Blaming Google Maps for going along with Trump’s pathetic Lake America name change is like blaming your phone for displaying it.

This took me ages to realise too. And that might be because I grew up in, what turns out, according to this map, to be the ONLY part of the country (north west London) where roads can begin with pretty much any number.

Spotify should have an option where the next song is based only on the previous song, so playlists gradually drift wildly off course.

How come this place on the eastern extremity of Catalunya with flat land, a nice river, excellent access to the Mediterranean and a really satisfying very very long gently curved beach that would be an excellent tourist hotspot is NOT the location of a massive city?

Satellite image from Google Earth of the very long gently curved coastline near Sant Pere Pescador with a very very very big yellowy orange arrow pointing to it

I have perfect pitch*. So, to me, a song in a different key sounds like a different song. Every chord change sounds surprising, sort of like I’m hearing it for the first time. So, I LOVE a video like this. youtu.be/fq-PLCALVC8

This is sort of fascinating but also sort of meaningless. This is actually a map showing which countries consider suburbs to be part of their cities. Hence Britain having “2” and Australia having “5”.

The words “losing my religion” appear in the song Losing My Religion only twice, buried in the verses. If you didn’t know that’s what the song was called, you’d never guess that’s what the song was called.

PLEASE SHARE THIS To the young person (longish dark hair, patterned waistcoat, chinos & DM boots) who left this scroll of papers on the Piccadilly Line train at South Kensington station at about 4.25pm today, I’ve handed it to the station staff at Hammersmith.

Short looping portrait videos with big chunky one-word-at-a-time subtitles might be absolute brain rot destroying our attention spans and ability to regulate dopamine and might be responsible for an irreversible enstupidification of our species… But they’re reeeeally good for learning a language!

I’ve held onto this thought since about 1998ish when TFI Friday did a feature called ‘Things You Wouldn’t Normally See Bounce’ in which they chucked very large objects such as phone boxes out the window onto a massive trampoline.

When I was at uni, a guy in a pirate costume doing a stupid pirate voice ran for student union president. At all the debates, he ran rings around the other candidates. All his daft jokes were clearly based on an intricate knowledge of the real issues on campus. He won with a massive landslide.
