@bikeeastbay.bsky.social added this report of potholes on Oakland’s 24th St by the New Parkway theater to their “top ten potholes” monthly list to OakDOT. I was happy to see them respond with a block-long series of asphalt fills last week. Full repaving of 24th St is on the paving plan for 2028.
“Streets - Potholes/Depression
466-494 24th St Oakland, CA, 94612, USA
Closed
This street is a lawsuit waiting to happen. Potholes, cracked asphalt, very bumpy for both cars and bicycles.
Cars have to slow to a crawl to avoid scraping a bumper.
Cyclists ride on the sidewalk or the wrong side of the street all the time to avoid the potholes. Oakland, please don't wait until someone gets into an accident and you get sued to fix this street. We can't afford to waste our tax dollars like that.”Photo of construction crew filling potholes on 24th St in Oakland
