What is open science?
Sharing knowledge accelerates innovation and advances discovery
020
allen institute @alleninstitute.org · 14/09/2026
Open science means data, software, lab protocols, cell lines, and even custom microscope designs freely available to everyone, so researchers can build on each other's work instead of starting from scratch. More collaboration = faster discoveries.
121
allen institute @alleninstitute.org · 14/09/2026
It's #OpenScienceWeek! Research can be expensive, competitive, and surprisingly hard to share. Paywalls, data barriers, and the race to publish have historically kept discoveries locked away. Open science is the movement to change that.
