I just honestly can't get over that Save Women Sports, an anti-trans group could only find five trans athletes competing K through 12. Five. The NCAA president testified a year and a half ago or so that there were less than 10 college level trans athletes. What the fuck are we doing, people

Today I went to a house contents sale. This person had a big stack of rewritable discs with music and maybe movies on them, and almost every one of them was labelled with a photo of a cat. I haven't this been amused and yet left with so many questions in a long time. #cats #estatesalefinds

An assortment of CD jewel cases decorated with photos of different cats and with the names of albums and/or films written on. For example, a case with a photo of a white cat has "South Pacific" written on it. A photo of a tabby cat's bum as the cat walks into a box says "Blues Brothers".

Very relatable; I have a few hoodies my partner got from working with FB years ago. One recent time when I was especially disgusted and enraged with techbros, I made tiny quilt blocks and appliqued them over the logos on those hoodies. Not world-changing, of course, but it did soothe me a little.

Something about the aesthetic of the mid/late 1970s (basically when I was a baby) is just delicious to me. Got this at a used book store yesterday for the cover project alone, though I'd do it in different colours. But the whole book is full of gems. #sewing #quilting #vintage

A 1977 Better Homes and Gardens Patchwork and Quilting book, subtitled "exciting quick and easy projects, quilting, patchwork, applique basics... Heirloom and contemporary designs". On the cover is a quilt made up of overlapping daisy shapes in lots of bright shades of red, blue, orange, yellow, and green.

I can't believe I need to have an AI policy! I made it pretty short though: Using AI is cheating, yourself mostly. In addition to the environmental blight created by AI, it makes no sense to use it in your intellectual and creative work. Why would you outsource your innate intelligence?

Shot at the height of sweet pea madness by my partner shortly before our city experienced a weeks-long heatwave/drought. These #flowers were hit pretty hard; many vines didn't survive. But some pulled through and I'm still getting pretty but slightly raggedy bunches every few days. #bloomscrolling

A middle-aged woman with greying brown hair and glasses stands beside a bed of tall sweet pea vines with blooms of many colours such as pink, purple, peach, and white. Behind her are raspberry bushes and a cedar hedge.

More garden treasures! Here is my latest Goth-ish arrangement. And what are those blooms in the foreground? See the alt text. #bloomscrolling #flowers #gardening

An arrangement of flowers from my garden in an old pasta sauce jar on a brown tiled table. The bouquet includes red zinnia, darker red rudbeckia, fuchsia cosmos, purple and almost-black petunias, dark red nasturtiums, and some dark purple sweet peas, which I've been eagerly awaiting all season.

Poor Olivia came out of the washroom with litter on her face again. My youngest compared it to having toilet paper trailing from your shoe. #cats #catsofbluesky I did dust her off after the picture was taken.

Olivia, a 12 year old tabby and white cat with a pink nose and green eyes, sits on a grey stepping stool in a cluttered kitchen. She wears a blue collar and pink name tag. There is a sprinkling of sawdust-based kitty litter on her forehead.

These are seashell cosmos, named for the unusual petal shape. They're so cute, but the petals are very fragile and drop easily. #flowers #bloomscrolling #gardening

The same jar bouquet of dark flowers, with particular focus on some fuchsia seashell cosmos blooms. They have petals that roll into tubes or cones, hence the name.

Another dark palette bouquet! New additions include a sprig of buddleia (I know, please don't yell! It doesn't spread as easily this far north and I'm determined to keep it small and it's surrounded by tons of natives) and dark purple salvia. #flowers #gardening #bloomscrolling

A bouquet of flowers fills a pasta sauce jar on a brown and beige tiled table. There are dark red nasturtiums, fuchsia cosmos, dark purple petunias, maroon pansies, and rich purple butterfly bush. Two pairs of gardening gloves, one dark green and the other with a lively multicoloured fruit print, lie in the background.

Apricot sweet peas are relatively rare, and I ordered these seeds from the UK. Sadly, only one grew into a plant, and not an especially big one. But my goodness does it produce the most beautifully coloured #flowers . #bloomscrolling #gardening

A single sweet pea flower in the most perfect coral apricot colour. A dark green sandbox and purple lavender blossoms are in the blurry background.

Also beginning to play with colours from my dark, "goth-lite" garden. #bloomscrolling #flowers #gardening

Dark red rudbeckia, fuchsia cosmos, purple violas, deep red nasturtium, and deep-purple and almost black petunias, gathered in an old glass pasta sauce jar. The arrangement sits on a brown and beige tiled table, with a brown fake wicker chair in the background.

A top-down view of a bunch of sweet peas in many colours ranging from pure white, to pale pink and magenta, to lilac, bright coral pink, and apricot. A brown and beige tiled table is underneath.

@garybrannan.bsky.social I feel compelled to share that a tiny pottery vase in one of my miniature projects contains all the cat whiskers I collect around my house.(you're probably really sick of being corrected about that, I'm sorry).

A 12th scale dollhouse kitchen with white cabinetry and appliances, fake stone flooring, and wallpaper with peaches on it. A wooden kitchen table with chairs is in the foreground. It is cluttered with several things: a glass bowl of fruit, a copper pot on legs, a fancy pink cake, and a bottle of Perrier. There is also a white pottery vase containing a bunch of discarded white cat whiskers.

I promised myself that this year I would take more pictures of the flowers I pick from my garden over the course of the growing season. Here is the first arrangement of the year, with peonies, Siberian iris, pansies, and some interesting cosmos varieties I grew from seed. #bloomscrolling

An empty honey jar sits on a brown tiled outdoor table, filled with an arrangement of purple iris, pink peonies, pink and yellowish cosmos, and orange, purple and pale blue pansies.
