And yeah, I know, this isn't everyone's ministry. But don't pretend yelling at people online is effecting change, because it's not. Mostly it's entrenching people in their beliefs by making them feel persecuted for "speaking the truth".

Good thread. This same thing goes for bigots, incidentally - they can be reached but only in the context of a genuine friendship built on trust and caring. Which is why you need to still go to Thanksgiving dinner with your racist uncle. Family is likely the only people who can reach him.

"Listen to your body." I understand the sentiment, and agree that it's usually a wise decision... however, if I listened to my body, I would never get out of bed. And I gotta get up and go to work to pay the rent. 🫠 Having chronic illness often means you have to ignore your own body's messages.

Anat Perry, a Helen Putnam Fellow at Harvard’s Radcliffe Institute and associate professor of psychology at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, co-authored a paper in Science examining how sycophantic AI responses erode users’ ability to calibrate their own judgment. The paper found that when AI systems consistently affirm a user’s position, the user’s capacity for independent evaluation degrades over time.

Joanna Stern, NBC’s chief technology analyst and author of “I Am Not a Robot: My Year Using AI to Do (Almost) Everything,” has documented the creep of AI dependency in daily life. Her reporting has shown how users begin with low-stakes queries, such as what to cook for dinner or what to wear, and gradually escalate to consequential decisions about careers, finances, and relationships. The trajectory from convenience to reliance is difficult to reverse once established.

I got out for some precious nature time yesterday. For me this is preferable to any church. 💚 Side note, I seriously need to learn how to curb my enthusiasm when outside. I ended up doing the whole 10km loop around the lake as it was so nice, and today I am in terrible pain with an endo flare. 😭
