And yeah, I know, this isn't everyone's ministry. But don't pretend yelling at people online is effecting change, because it's not. Mostly it's entrenching people in their beliefs by making them feel persecuted for "speaking the truth".

Good thread. This same thing goes for bigots, incidentally - they can be reached but only in the context of a genuine friendship built on trust and caring. Which is why you need to still go to Thanksgiving dinner with your racist uncle. Family is likely the only people who can reach him.

I'm not much of a movie watcher but from the list I found, I did enjoy this one 💜

The movie poster for the 2007 movie "Across the Universe" featuring the tagline "all you need is love" and an image of a man gently holding a woman's face inside a strawberry-shaped vignette against a starry sky.

I am Xoyos Brightslash, the starting hero for the Allayi faction in Endless Legend. Known as "The Lonely," I am the 'only survivor of a Summer birthing season that was ravaged by plague and war due to conflict with a Necrophage hive.' (Text borrowed from Endless Legend Wiki.) Oh dear. 😵‍💫

Art from the game Endless Legend depicting Xoyos Brightslash, the starting hero of the Allayi faction. He is a furry white alien-looking guy with long rabbitlike ears and weird fragmented floating wings. The top half of the image shows him looking calm in the summertime and the bottom half shows him looking unhinged and aggressive in the wintertime.

I was recommended a book by my former psychologist; "The Happiness Trap" by Russ Harris. It's a guide to Acceptance & Commitment Therapy. It might be of some help... I do seem to remember it feeling a bit childish at points, but it covered the basics pretty well, I think.

"Listen to your body." I understand the sentiment, and agree that it's usually a wise decision... however, if I listened to my body, I would never get out of bed. And I gotta get up and go to work to pay the rent. 🫠 Having chronic illness often means you have to ignore your own body's messages.

I am not surprised if there are fewer local artists making products to sell, when the few venues they can sell at are hawking slop that pushes out real art. It's just so short-sighted. I'm so, so, so sick of seeing this crap everywhere, invading artists' spaces, and then hearing excuses made for it.

Fru 💜 @2fru4u.bsky.social · 01/08/2026

In a Google Maps review another person had also noticed and condemned this, and the shop responded by saying something like, 'well we tried to find local artists making this particular product but we couldn't find any.' GEE I wonder why that might be the case? (cont'd)

On a road trip recently, I visited a little gift shop that claimed to be an 'artisan collective' showcasing handcrafted products from local artists. Totally dismayed to find that the shop was stocked with tons of AI-generated slop in amongst actual artists' products. (cont'd)

This is fucking terrifying

Separate research supports the concern. Anat Perry, a Helen Putnam Fellow at Harvard’s Radcliffe Institute and associate professor of psychology at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, co-authored a paper in Science examining how sycophantic AI responses erode users’ ability to calibrate their own judgment. The paper found that when AI systems consistently affirm a user’s position, the user’s capacity for independent evaluation degrades over time.

Joanna Stern, NBC’s chief technology analyst and author of “I Am Not a Robot: My Year Using AI to Do (Almost) Everything,” has documented the creep of AI dependency in daily life. Her reporting has shown how users begin with low-stakes queries, such as what to cook for dinner or what to wear, and gradually escalate to consequential decisions about careers, finances, and relationships. The trajectory from convenience to reliance is difficult to reverse once established.

Yeah, my partner was a member at Makerspace for a while. They have some cool equipment there, but since we now have so much home hobby equipment we don't really need it anymore.

Absolutely! I am not sure if it's a park exactly, but there are these wooded areas around my workplace that have trails going through them. If you go to Vancouver Island Technology Park and go into the woods behind the community garden (north-east of the Makerspace)... that's where I found them. 😅

I recently found these strange flowers while walking in the woods. I learned they're known as ghost pipes and they are a parasitic, non-photosynthesizing plant that feeds off fungi. They're so cool!!

A photo of a dog peeking out of a car window. The placement of the dog and the person taking the photo — where the lower half of the person's outfit is reflecting off the car door — makes it look like the dog is wearing a button-up shirt and tan pants.

At an antique store today I found some uranium glass! Always wanted to have my own, so I bought it! I actually don't know a whole lot about it, I just think it's neat (I got it for display only hehe) 👽

Tfw I made it thru the work week but now I have to make it thru the weekend-with-plans-in-it. 🫠 Challenge level: impossible. I physically need a recovery period after a weekend with plans... which is why I hate making weekend plans, but I need to at least occasionally see family and friends...

"Dreams of Sunbeams" (Bronze-Winged Pionus) 18”x18” oil on stretched canvas I will miss you, always A memorial painting of my girl, four years in the making.

A square format oil painting of a bronze-winged pionus. She is sitting with her back to us, in a sunbeam, reaching under her right wing to preen. She is iridescent and multicolored with rich blues, bronzes, greens, and grey colors. A hunk of petrified wood with a rich array of blue grey, white, and tan streaks is the parrot's perch. A messy halo of caustic light surrounds her. The painting has an artist's watermark that reads Copyright 2026 Jennifer Miller Nambroth, featherdust dot com

A cropped detail close-up of the prior image. The brush strokes are more obvious in this close-up.
