It's also like, if the Rebellion was recruiting pilots piecemeal from various sources/defections they would have different looking pilots, not just more non-white pilots but aliens too. But if they're all from one planet and were workers in standardized conscription who seized the x-wing factory....

not a single one of these is 9/64" and the 3.5mm is barely too small who the hell picks 9/64" as an appropriate size for anything

a handful of assorted length and diameter allen wrenches and a nicer set of good ones from Park Tools in the back. but they're mostly all metric and i need a 9/64"

Tackling all of the most important issues. F--- the soft power that came from USAID's outstanding contributions, but here's the solution to a problem that no one had! Always style over substance. And watch, the packaging supplier will turn out to be some big GOP donor who needed a USG grift.

Liberty defeat the Lynx to advance! First 8 seed to knock off a 1 seed in WNBA history. I was cheering for the Lynx because they're closest to KC and Olivia Miles, but Breanna Stewart and Sabrina Ionescu are both awesome too so I'm excited to watch them too! #WNBA

Just sayin there's a lot of room to cut salaries. How many affiliate presidents does FHSU really need, at $150,000 each?

050

matt🌻✌️ @28tauri.net · 29/09/2026

I'm sure the cuts were a tough call to make, but her statement about "... and can we back that up with data" is pretty shitty. It completely ignores any soft value-add the museum represents. Can they back up *with data* that 15 varsity sports need to exist? Where's the data on her $355,000 salary

it's too random to predictably schedule around. i really want something with user-facing logic, like "if after 2200 and temperature has stayed the same for >2 hours then turn on blower motor for 15 minutes" will probably have to roll my own, the alternatives are either too coarse or too expensive

030

matt🌻✌️ @28tauri.net · 29/09/2026

you know like you set the AC at 72 and it doesn't stop at 72 it goes to like 71.5? because if it stopped right at 72 it would turn back on immediately. thats hysteresis and my thermostat is like "oh you said 72 GREAT ILL MAKE IT 68"

110

matt🌻✌️ @28tauri.net · 29/09/2026

does anyone perchance know of a home thermostat which has user-adjustable hysteresis setpoints?? i'm so tired of temperature overshoots. i don't want to make my own PID controller but i will if nothing exists

If an LLM actually makes a novel discovery, it's because of the underlying ML model noticing patterns (that appear linguistically). But that could have been done without the LLM. There is no ghost in the LLM machine that is thinking about and solving problems.

030

matt🌻✌️ @28tauri.net · 26/09/2026

there's some "glass files" that are glass with emery glued, but "czech glass" means the acid-etched process. the two brands i know of are bona fide beauty and germanikure. germanikure is amazon-only, so i ordered from bonafide

040

matt🌻✌️ @28tauri.net · 26/09/2026

they're also reusable, just rinse in the sink and dry. i have one already, but ordered a curved one that has a little groove in it for shaping

a bona fide beauty curved ergonomic glass nail file

150

matt🌻✌️ @28tauri.net · 26/09/2026

so when it comes to nail files, there's emery boards, metal files, all kinds of ceramics. czech glass is one of the newer techs its glass that is acid-etched, so the abrasive surface is rounded instead of jagged like emery. you can file both directions, and nail free edges are left smooth
