My understanding of the reactor design was that there won't be aboveground nuclear waste, because they aren't going to refuel or service it. Just drop it down the hole and fill the borehole with water and when it gets hot, spin the spinny. When it runs out, they'll leave it and drop another.

There were 2 aircraft within theoretical visual range at that time, neither of which were moving the way the object was. If you follow me at all you know I watch a lot of aircraft, and I don't think this was one. Too fast, too bright, and no anticollision flashing.
