Rising Death Rate for Gen X, Elder Millennials Is 'Genuinely Alarming'

People born between 1970 to 1985 are dying more frequently, in what researchers call a "genuinely alarming trend." A new study found they are seeing "increasing mortality in cardiovascular disease, ca...

Link to source in article & screenshot that mentions Covid-19 (through 2023)

Historically, each generation has improved its life expectancy and mortality rate over the generation before it. But a new study published in Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences found that people born after 1970 are seeing "increasing mortality in cardiovascular disease, cancer, and external causes compared to their predecessors, implying continuation of poor mortality trends as they age."

Looking at trends in years affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, SI Appendix, Table S5 shows mortality rates in 2019 to 2023 by birth cohort for deaths from all causes, CVD, cancer, and external causes, revealing mortality largely increased in that period in most birth cohorts. CVD deaths rose in 2019 to 2022 but exhibited some recovery by 2023, whereas cancer mortality was improving in these years and external deaths were rising.

Interesting how they frame it as "people" when the study is about US Americans. Why might people be failing to get screenings cancer? Why might Americans choose not to pursue proven health care options? (On top of Covid being a factor as well, obviously.)

Of course the final conclusion is the need for “improving diet” like holy shit there is not enough kale in the world to prevent you from getting communicable diseases that weaken your cardiovascular system & destroy your metabolism.

Ppl don’t want to accept how repeated Covid infections are a piece of the puzzle here & yet prefer to care about this info, but not LC & associated heart problems & rampant inflammation that has repeatedly been shown to be associated w/ cancer, & all the Covid/gut issues. 🫠

As someone who agrees the covid approach has been bad (and is a young cancer patient) I will say that if you read the article the trend is for pre 2019 data. So this is from other causes before any covid related issues arise

Voices and Vaccines @voicesandvaccines.bsky.social · 18/03/2026

Everyone needed to become vaccinated for the greater good. It was more important to expose ourselves to these risks in order to become immune. Anyone who is vaccinated knows that is a lie and always has been. Vaccinated people still become infected and spread disease to other vaccinated people.

The primary analysis for this study used data until 2019. They excluded 2020-2023 from their analysis as it was looking at decades-long trends rather than the specific impact of the pandemic, although there is a secondary analysis including COVID-19 data.

My brother in law died of a heart attack at 53 a year and a half ago. He was fit and athletic, former Navy, ran the Tough Mudder and similar regularly. He left behind a wife of 20+ years who has a disability, and their now 13 year old son. Letting COVID rage was unconscionable.

It has been said that "A man dies twice, once when the heart stops, and the second time when their name is spoken for the last time" This needs updating if "People born between 1970 to 1985 are dying more frequently" Or is this a reflection of better medical technology and resuscitation techniques?

The minimizers are still flooding the zone with shit. Full on there are no excess deaths mode. But! Some reared their ugly think tank heads, to tell me eurostats are wrong on healthy life years and they are using "AI debunking". More on that later. This👇 bsky.app/profile/pana...
