the big mistake Northwestern is making right now is they're doing Premium pricing for the expensive fancy elite deluxe stadium. the cheapest ticket they're selling for Northwestern-Ball State is $97 ninety seven dollars for Northwestern-Ball State (i'm seeing $76 on resale)

the bet is that they can make more money being half-full with $97 tickets for an Exclusive Premium First Class Football Experience than filling the stadium with a $20 get-in price, and they're right but you need atmosphere in Year 1

I'm kind of impressed that they think they can do that already. The ol "soak the season ticket holders for full price on a preseason game" NFL trick basically but shouldn't be surprised when the season ticket holders undercut your single game face value price on the aftermarket!

The big mistake they made is building the stadium in Evanston, which is 90 minutes away from 90% of Chicagolands population. I’m going Saturday, but it’s 90 minutes from my home in the inner western suburbs. Will have to be a pretty incredible experience to make me want to go twice a year.

they were charging like $94 dollars for end zone seats at the lake the first year too. I am confused because to me the sole way I've ever been able to get someone to go to a northwestern game is "you can watch them play Purdue for $25."

SDSU had a similar (adjusted for then-MW standards) situation when they opened Snapdragon. Ticket prices were outrageous for G5 football. Crowds were horrible. They have reduced ticket prices twice since but can’t say it’s helped much. Attendance is awful, even last year when they were good.
