the big mistake Northwestern is making right now is they're doing Premium pricing for the expensive fancy elite deluxe stadium. the cheapest ticket they're selling for Northwestern-Ball State is $97 ninety seven dollars for Northwestern-Ball State (i'm seeing $76 on resale)

the bet is that they can make more money being half-full with $97 tickets for an Exclusive Premium First Class Football Experience than filling the stadium with a $20 get-in price, and they're right but you need atmosphere in Year 1

Something went wrong when sports decided to optimize revenue over eyeballs/attendance and it sucks man

new plan: we sell some Exclusive Premium First Class Football Experience tickets for $97, and then we sell other Basic Economy Football Experience tickets for $20 (but you will be assigned a seat the morning of the game, you board the stadium in Group 9, and you can't bring a carry-on)

I think it was like $50 for season tickets to syracuse football when i was a student in 2016 and that still felt expensive — $97 per game. WHAT IS GOING ON

The Pelicans thought the people of Birmingham would be so excited to have a G League team that they could charge NBA prices for it in year 1. Instead the narrative instantly became "yeah Squadron games are way overpriced" and they never shook that reputation off

Yeah you price it up for night one and then drop prices way down the rest of the year. Because unless they’re awesome, nobody’s gonna buy the cheaper tickets next year

Exactly. Sell the $20 tickets and make it up in concessions (which they absolutely could do).

Nothing says college football intensity like a half empty stadium of disinterested fans

Ah yes, the US Soccer pricing strategy.

I wonder if they were banking on a curiosity rush? Because I mean, it's Ball State. That's not even a particularly interesting MAC program right now.

Especially because y'all are actually kinda exciting right now on offense?

I hear there are no drinking fountains anywhere in the concourse (and bottled water is $7)

This seems to be the method for so many teams now. Isnt there a tradeoff point where you make more by filling it up cheaper and making up the difference on in-stadium purchases? Will be interesting to see how empty they are willing to go .

They built a college football stadium catering to people who don’t care about college football.
