This confuses Meow; why is this a surprise? A LLM is not a game player, it's a prediction engine trained on (illegally sourced) text. Why would it be any good at chess to begin with? Why does anyone think an LLM would be good at anything?

LLMs don't *know* anything, so by implication of course they don't know chess. That very old very limited Atari system on the contrary has algorithms specifically designed for chess.

An LLM is fundamentally not capable of ever becoming an AGI. These "AI" system have absolutely no knowledge about anything but the probability of a couple of words following a previously set couple of words. It's a scam just like "crypto". And IMHO the intention is to devalue creative work. 🔽
