the thing about the western MA lesbian bar thing is that it's eerily similar to something my local community org went through a little while ago where regardless of the actual merits, a few people weaponized social justice language to destroy something out of personal grievance

stuff like calling the mediator a cop, lines like refusing to have more dialogue because it's "emotional labor", this is not engaging in good faith to address an issue with theimited resources at hand, this is using tumblr ideas of social justice to try to get your way

I've been thinking about their situation and that same org's situation since I heard the story. What I hate most is how it caused me to play my cards closer to my chest in the community. That feeling sucks.

thank you for clarifying that it’s western massachusetts, which contextualizes it a lot because i assume this is to boston as the hudson valley is to nyc, which is to say there’s a vibrant community of people, about 30% of whom got dragged their from the city by a partner they now hate for it

The problem behavior is much more familiar in an online context, where the solution would be to ban hammer them into the next galaxy. But that's harder to bring yourself to do in a physical setting.
