a) public opinion has shifted on this stuff before and it can shift back b) even if polling is shifting against trans folks evidence is pretty convincing that going all in on anti-trans rhetoric is not winning elections for the GOP c) who cares what polling says trans rights are human rights

Polling showed that public opinion was very strong for an immigration crackdown, now people fucking hate the results! Polling can shift extremely fast when people actually have to think about issues!

Idk if this is typical for polls or not, but I just read their methods section and they say "if [a respondent] completes it in less than 30% of the median completion time, their response is not counted." That would eliminate literally everyone who reads quickly and has firm preexisting opinions.

The idea that polls ought to determine one’s positions on clear moral issues (like treating other humans with dignity) is a big part of why Dems have an authenticity problem. Politics isn’t picking the most popular positions, it’s the hard work of making what you believe is right popular.

Yeah, even if folks are in a "have some concerns" space with regards to trans issues, the amount of folks out there who are full-on Rowling-pilled single issue anti-trans voters is minimal. If you can help them afford rent and groceries, almost all of them won't care about your trans stance.

The GOP campaigns compelled me and a lot of other people to decide explicitly where we stand on trans rights, even if we didn't pay much conscious attention before. For me, its not a hold my nose and vote "pragmatically" issue. Sort of like being against slavery isn't really a single issue voter.

I saw that Epistein was involved in the anti-trans movement specifically because it made kids easier to abuse. Setting aside all the moral questions aside, if you as a politician can't make hay out of how your political opponent's are doing Epistein's work you should find a new job.
