Indy the dog lays on the couch beside me, cushioning my trackball mouse on his fluffy back. he is asleep. the act of taking a photo of Indy has awakened and annoyed him. now his head is up and he’s debating moving.

At the VEXAG 2026 meeting in Boulder just now, we've learned that NASA's VERITAS mission has been scheduled for a November 2032 launch. Folks, this is CRAZY good news. Earlier this year we were concerned that NASA would *cancel* VERITAS!

While there is a human pilot onboard, this landing happens too fast for human reflexes. It’s also too perilous for AI. This is an entirely algorithmic sequence, dependent on sensors measuring velocities feeding into a dendritic sequence of coded behavior.

Resource competition intensifies with surge in megaconstellations
Amazon wants more than 5,000 satellites in orbit. Blue Origin has proposed another 5,400. Chinese companies have filed plans encompassing vastly more. Elon Musk has talked about a constellation numbering 1 million. There is one issue: building all of them. The unprecedented rush to put satellites into low Earth orbit is colliding with shortages of specialized components and materials, suppliers struggling to keep up and competition from the booming artificial intelligence industry.
