Fancy a read of my review of Christopher Nolan's film The Odyssey (2026)? I may not be Roger Ebert, but I do have a PhD with a focus on the classical trope of nostos (Homeric homecoming). 🔗 Read the review here: wei-zhou.co.uk/go-big-and-g... #TheOdyssey #ChristopherNolan #FilmReview

Delighted to present at Ca’ Foscari University of Venice last week. My presentation on Jean Rhys’s Good Morning, Midnight explores ageing and gender performativity by drawing on her RADA training. This feeds into my new project on cosmopolitan modernisms and overseas student experience.

The Best Escapism Award to Roman Holiday
(I revisited Roman Holiday at 9 AM on a Saturday at Hyde Park Picture House as part of the Leeds International Film Festival’s free screening. The film was not too different from what I remember, but I picked up some nuances since I first saw it as a kid.) *spoiler alert* So, what are you going to do with your life after a holiday?

Hi! I'm an assistant professor of literature. I research how people, institutions, and algorithms circulate books from around the world into the US in the 20th and 21st centuries, as well as what kinds of communities are imagined and created through that circulation. Let's connect!
