Atminos, kā 2019.gadā ar kursabiedriem spriedām, ka par optoģenētikas izgudrošanu kādudien noteikti piešķirs Nobela prēmiju. Prieks, ka tas noticis. Iespēja aktivizēt nervu šūnas ar konkrētu ģenētisko profilu konkrētā smadzeņu reģionā, izmantojot gaismas viļņus, ir sekmējusi ļoti daudz atklājumu.

This year’s Nobel Prize is a great reminder of something fundamental about science: curiosity-driven research and unexpected angles of attack can reveal principles with implications far beyond the original question. Glad to see this beautifully illustrated through work on a photosynthetic organism!

Characteristically perceptive comment from @geoffmulgan.bsky.social. "Cognitive vulnerability" seems an important issue. I don't think (and am not sure Geoff thinks) that people are becoming stupider; rather, today's cultural environment creates more vulnerabilities.

Pārējie "tradicionālo vērtību" aizstāvji, kuri atbalsta obligātu dienestu vīriešiem, sava "nē" pamatojumā vismaz uzsvēra brīvprātības principu un nepasniedza šo sociālā ģendera normu ievērošanu kā kaut ko pašsaprotamu. Šķietami pat neapzināties savu uzskatu aprobežotību ir cits līmenis, par ko žēl.

No country for the future: the age breakdown of the Saxony vote. Similar patterns can be observed in federal polls. The oldest voter cohort is the least eager to vote for the notably euphemistically named “Alternative for Germany,” but even among this group, support for the far right remains high.
