Ysharros @ysharros.bsky.social · 13/10/2026Took me a while to finish, about 30 hours, but that was because I was taking my time and just pootling about (and also because I forgot how to make living glass, then had to wait for the gamma weed to grow). I was worried I'd have to do a lot of space-walk stuff (🤢) but no. It was fun! #NoMansSky 010

Ysharros @ysharros.bsky.social · 08/10/2026Oh hun, there's no getting better from getting older. 🤣🤣 The rhinitis stuff is just chronic. Living near a river and a bloody great forest full of humid things and plant things doesn't help, heh. On the bright side, I get to see deer and boars trying to get into my garden (not simultaneously XD). 130

Ysharros @ysharros.bsky.social · 08/10/2026Thank you! :) And yes, the whole stretching-down-the-years thing is getting a bit overwhelming these days. But it's nice to have old friends... err, long-time friends. Not accusing anyone (other than myself, today) of being old. 😅 210
Ysharros @ysharros.bsky.social · 07/10/2026But creepy giggling is a totally context-appropriate type of giggling, especially by sewer-dwelling assassins -- or are you saying it wasn't intentional (on the author's part)? That's just bad. Now I need to lie down and not see the word 'giggle' again for a few days. 120

Ysharros @ysharros.bsky.social · 07/10/2026This whole thread is too real. It's been 5 years almost to the day for me, and I still gnaw at the decision almost every day. It wasn't made lightly and it is still not light, nor ever will be. I am sad about it but I do, still, know it was the right decision. 040
Ysharros @ysharros.bsky.social · 07/10/2026Argh now I feel I have to do more explaining. There's a lot of context and nuance, obvs, which you're already aware of. It's not always bad. The Tilly character in ST:Discovery did a lot of giggling, but that was fine because it was a nervous/social anxiety thing and it worked in that context. 110
Ysharros @ysharros.bsky.social · 07/10/2026Sounds like it, and the 'substitute he' suggestion above was really good. This is going to sound mean, but I lose respect for characters who giggle a lot when the author clearly could have used another word. To me (again, possibly mean) it implies a certain immaturity. Which may be unfair, I dunno. 220
Ysharros @ysharros.bsky.social · 07/10/2026I mean, I feel like it's kind of an obligation when starting LOTRO (which I assume is what you're referencing?). I did the same way back when, possibly also with a hobbit (coulda been an elf -- actually probably was, I'm an elf-ho), and came to the same end. Good times. 😆 130
Ysharros @ysharros.bsky.social · 07/10/2026100% this. I cringe every time I see a woman giggling when a laugh, snort, chuckle, grin, guffaw, or whatever would do much better. I am not the giggling type (I think my voice is too deep and my laugh is just generally too laugh-y), and excessive giggling in books gives me the ick as well. 120
Ysharros @ysharros.bsky.social · 07/10/2026Heavy god-ray action on my RDR2 desktop wallpaper today. It may be a trend that some of my favourite games are also the ones that gave the best screenshots.
