🎉 YIMBY WIN! 🎉 Berkeley approved 7-story zoning along 2.3 miles of San Pablo Avenue, creating capacity for up to 6,500 new homes. That's a major step toward making it easier to build more homes in one of the Bay Area's most expensive regions. Congrats to all who helped make this happen! 👏🏘️

We don't have to choose between filtering and building affordable housing. 🏠 We need both. Build affordable homes directly. Build more market-rate homes. Legalize ADUs, duplexes, starter homes, and small apartments. We need to say yes to ALL kinds of housing.

“But those new apartments are too expensive!” We hear this a lot. But building new housing isn't about just waiting for expensive apartments to “trickle down.” It's about adding more homes to the market. When people move into new homes, they leave their old homes behind. That's a moving chain. 🏡
