As a new Harry Potter trailer makes the rounds, it bears repeating that there’s no way to watch this show without supporting J.K. Rowling’s bigotry and the structural violence she’s inflicting on the trans community.

This makes sense to me not only because of its generosity, but because she was a great understander of the intricacy of the relationship between mind and body and self-image and external image, and of the primacy of *deciding for yourself* and being at peace above all else.

Further evidence of how urgently the UK needs anti-SLAPP laws. If our governments were as interested in freedom of speech as they claim to be, they would have done that already. But all the evidence suggests that it is only right-wing speech that our governments (blue or red) actually care about.

The Google AI overview is such a bullshit product "improvement" — it constantly gives incorrect responses, complete with citations... "Oh cool," you think, "it's summarising Wikipedia. That should be a safe bet" Then you look at the source and the AI is straight lying about what it says!
A Google search for "breakfast cup measurement" — the AI Overview reads:

A breakfast cup is an old culinary volume measurement, primarily found in vintage UK and Commonwealth recipes.Volume: 1 breakfast cup equals 10 British Imperial fluid ounces (approximately 284 ml or 9.6 US fl oz).Wikipedia entry for Breakfast Cup, it reads:

The breakfast cup is a culinary measurement unit in the United Kingdom. It is named after a cup for drinking tea or coffee while eating breakfast. 1 breakfast cup is 8 British imperial fluid ounces.

If you are based in the UK, please do consider writing an email to your local library about how important LGBTQ+ books, and representation is. There are several councils in the UK suggesting that books should be banned and that LGBTQ+ books are harmful. This must be challenged at all costs.
