One of the things I like about Portal is that it's premise ties into the unfamiliarity the player will have about the future world it presents. The protagonist has returned from a decades-long interstellar voyage in cryogenic storage and everything has changed from the world they knew.

A scan of the fold-out map included with the game from the Museum of Adventure Game History website showing a map of Earth divided into World Administrative Regions such as SovSec, European, Calmax, Pacific. Huge administrative and governance blocks with actual countries largely vanished. Presented as an in-universe document.

Before Portal, there was, well, Portal. Activision's 1986 'computer novel' is one of the examples of the kind of entertainment software being developed for the Commodore Amiga in its first year. High concept, artsy, and tapping into the creativity-focused marketing for the computer.

Just started @doublefine.com Amnesia Fortnite 26 demos. First up, Architactics; Sim City but your buildings also transformer to protect against kaiju esque elemental creatures.

An isometric map of a landscape, yellow ground and outcroppings of green trees. Amongst them is built a city hall, fire station, hastily structured road system and housing, industrial and commercial squares that produce population, materials and money respectively. There's a handy guide portrait on the bottom left and a weather week forecast on the bottom right. In two days time a wild fire is predicted.

There’s so much richness and detail that’s completely lost in these kinds of translations, and even if human editors then go through the MTL scripts, that nuance is already gone. Don’t support trash, low effort attempts by individuals who only care about being the “first” to get a translation out.
