Am I a giant ball of anxiety right now? Yes. Yes I am. I always am, when it comes to trips. There are a lot of reasons for it, more than usual this time. Some of it is just that my track record with flying is... dubious. I am about 50-50 in terms of having issues. Not like, small delays. Big stuff.

I will also do the thing. Because why not. I could have doubled it to get to the games that really made me how I am now. These 9 are just the first course. No text adventures here, no point and clicks, no Castlevania SotN, no TMNT arcade. But they *should* all be there too.

Given that it's a Lovecraftian JRPG, Laplace's Demon is a slow paced thing and that feels appropriate, but it does not give you the happy chemicals from number-goes-up like many other JRPGs. The game does a lot to keep you from feeling like you're getting more powerful/competent.

Tired day. Honestly tired more often than not. Part of it is my meds. Not a lot I can do about that. But I get by. Made some Laplace no Ma progress, did some reading, hung out with people, did a small amount of retail therapy.

Travel anxiety starting to kick in a bit. I have... not awesome luck with air travel overall. For a variety of reasons. But hoping this goes smoothly. I'm really excited for this trip. I think it'll be a lot of fun. Lots of new things to see, new people to meet and hang out with.

Spent a lot of time playing Laplace No Ma today. Really interesting game. Damned shame we never got it in the west, though given Nintendo at the time it's also not a surprise. Definitely recommended if you enjoy both JRPGs and Lovecraftian-style fiction.

I try to be "to each their own" about video games, but whenever I see people playing Mario Party games, I genuinely wonder why people don't play anything better. Because it certainly appears that *nearly anything* would be more fun than a Mario Party game.

Decided that on my Switch, it's all arcade games until I get back from my Ohio trip in a few weeks. Just shoot things, beat things up, hit things, whatever. PC gets the RPG playing, with Laplace No Ma, Emerald Dragon, and Ys Seven.

A frustrating part of my meds change last month and a lot of other stuff going on is that my ability to be creative has fucking tanked. Just fucking died. Haven't painted models. Haven't written. Have only come up with kind of a framework for the Atomic Robo game I'll be running.

As good of a game as Return of the Obra Dinn is (and it is good, if rather difficult) the way you identify the crew members from China is poorly thought out and *extremely* poorly executed. It's really glaring and doesn't feel reasonable or logical.

Finished Yakuza: Like A Dragon around this time yesterday. Fucking fantastic game. Part of me *immediately* wanted to start on the sequel. I didn't even touch all the things you could do with Like A Dragon, especially the postgame, but I'm not unhappy with how much I did do.

One of my all-time favorite rules, from Pea Ridge (1980). The designer's great-great-grandfather fought in the battle, and if his unit takes damage you roll a die to see if he survives. If he dies, the designer is never born, and the game doesn't exist, and so automatically ends in a draw.
