That's something I can push past, because I'm used to it and I know what is and is not within my control. But I also know that I'm meeting and interacting with a lot of people I've never met before on this trip too. That's terrifying. I'm not good with people I don't know.

Am I a giant ball of anxiety right now? Yes. Yes I am. I always am, when it comes to trips. There are a lot of reasons for it, more than usual this time. Some of it is just that my track record with flying is... dubious. I am about 50-50 in terms of having issues. Not like, small delays. Big stuff.

Yeah, it just makes me cranky. When cranky enough, I'll block that creator to ensure they can't come back up again. And if I am somehow curious enough to click and it doesn't *immediately* live up to expectations, they get blocked too. So it's a straight up losing effort for them, long term.

Black paint and modge will wear pretty well. Do a matte varnish for more protection over all. For lunacy, do a gloss varnish, then a matte. That's about as good as it gets for something that will get regular use.

I will also do the thing. Because why not. I could have doubled it to get to the games that really made me how I am now. These 9 are just the first course. No text adventures here, no point and clicks, no Castlevania SotN, no TMNT arcade. But they *should* all be there too.

It's very frustrating because it feels like it's close to nailing the balance and instead picks the worst way to overlap. It really needed to either have fewer fights for this difficulty or allow more powerful characters at this encounter rate.

Which is, again, rather fitting for the Lovecraftian thing but also helps make it feel like a slog. Fights just aren't worth doing because they're never simple or easy. You get most of your XP from quests, not battles. But you can't explore without fights at a rate similar to other JRPGs.

Given that it's a Lovecraftian JRPG, Laplace's Demon is a slow paced thing and that feels appropriate, but it does not give you the happy chemicals from number-goes-up like many other JRPGs. The game does a lot to keep you from feeling like you're getting more powerful/competent.

Spent a lot of time playing Laplace No Ma today. Really interesting game. Damned shame we never got it in the west, though given Nintendo at the time it's also not a surprise. Definitely recommended if you enjoy both JRPGs and Lovecraftian-style fiction.

Decided that on my Switch, it's all arcade games until I get back from my Ohio trip in a few weeks. Just shoot things, beat things up, hit things, whatever. PC gets the RPG playing, with Laplace No Ma, Emerald Dragon, and Ys Seven.
