I remember lining up to see ROTJ at a theater in California! Yes I'm old. Didn't get to see Alien or The Thing until many years later but definitely liked both. Chest bursts in Alien I would not have liked as a kid, as well as the defibrillator scene from The Thing!

Great prog rock adjacent album I only learned about 5 or do years ago! I can definitely see as a kid being creeped out by it!

Definitely liked both DC and TNS! Neither really hit my fears i guess. Never got to see Return to Oz. I guess when my hippie parents had me see stuff like Heavy Metal and Galaxy of Terror as a kid, stuff like those movies were cake to me!

Absolutely the dumbest thing, but as a kid, I remember watching the video Don't Come Around Here No More by Tom Petty. The folks jumping out singing HEY combined with the group eating Alice as if she was a cake really scared me as a kid! I think that started my dislike of jumpscares early on!

“how do we win back trump voters in 2026” we don’t. we create an environment where admitting to voting for trump is so socially embarrassing as to render them completely inert. you don’t “win back” trump voters. you demoralize them into staying home. you make it a dunce cap

JRR Tolkien: You paint that picture of the key scene from the Two Towers where Frodo and Sam fight Gollum? Donato Giancola: Sure did, Ron, real fuckin' sexy just like you asked. JRRT: What.

1408 is a very underrated horror movie! I watched it a few years back and really liked it! Plus, you get to see John Cusack yelling at a mini-fridge!

Not sure what you might go on but I know mounjaro helped me drop about 40 pounds. I was in that awkward pre diabetic level, so thats how I got on it. Good luck and hopefully it doesn't take an arm and leg. Or would that be a paw and a paw?

Honestly. If you're over 35, at the very least, you should have SOME SORT of written will. Not only does it let you decide what happens with your stuff, but also would set plans for end-of-life care if you're unable to verbalize it at that point. Don't let random/estranged relatives decide for you.

There is no way that Bungie can unvault the game AND eventually make new stuff for Destiny 2 AND keep working on an entire second game when they've laid off so much of the talent they needed to make it in the first place. Stop trusting executives just because they say what you want to hear.

The movie was fun, hoping to drag one of the roommates to see it this weekend. And when it gets a physical release, I'll pick it up as well!

Decided to go see Buddy tonight. It was great, very unhinged in the best possible ways! Its done by the guy that did Too Many Cooks so you know its gonna be out there! I liked it, just keep in mind it is a slow burn horror movie until it gets going!

Things are getting tight out there. So a few general tips: 1) Make a “menu” for the week before grocery shopping. Be ready to change it based on sales, but if you know what you’re making and the ingredients it’s easier to budget.

Random question to start the week but I have to ask! This is in the context of Steam getting what feels like billions of new titles and demos every month. Who do you look at or go to as far as new demos to recommend? I do follow Casey Explosion and get a variety of demos. But I want more ideas!!

Will preface by saying I generally don't do memes. Having said that, I've seen this meme a bunch today. Is this literally folks training an AI on voice snippets disguised as a cute meme? Maybe I'm just cynical because of all the AI crap lately.
