apropos of nothing, when my partner and I met we found out within a couple days that we shared a favorite band: Frightened Rabbit. we had each seen them live about 6 times before meeting. but never will see them together, RIP Scott Hutchison. we built a shrine to them in our house.

a gig poster of the band, and art that we made representing some common motif's from their album artwork. a drumstick my partner got at a show, and the two books of Scott's lyrics and arts. all of this is in our dining room.

i write poetry—mostly to play with words and think, and thus for myself—but i just found this in a notebook and i dunno, it resonates. text in alt.

i am not yet to cynical for this world
the majesty of a tree—any tree, not
just the fancy ones—still overpowers
me, challenges me, confounds me as I contemplate
what it would be like to never leave
a spot, to not be able to move out of the way
to need the earth where i am, where i can
reach, to need that earth to sustain me.
To need the water to be toxin free, the soil
to be healthy, to need the climate to be stable
because if these needs aren't met, well,
what can I do?
