Have been told Unite's position is still the same - women's seats are open to ALL women - and they have not been told they need to change to comply with legislation. There are some within Unite trying to get an anti-trans position but that would need a policy change at conference.

The Unison thing is incredibly disheartening, to put it mildly. But I have hope members, who voted overwhelmingly to include trans people, will not take kindly to this and do a something about it. Hope. A small hope. But hope nonetheless.

In the meantime, if you need a different union, consider Unite, if it's appropriate. I'm in the NUJ (Ire). The UK NUJ is run by transphobic asshats who took my money for a few months but wouldn't approve my membership. They interrogated me as to why I wanted to join as I'd 'done fine' without them
