I think students do still need to learn how to build essays and do the sorts of thinking and refinement argumentative essays require. And many--not all--do respond to faculty being clear that they are strongly opposed to AI use. But I agree that a lack of institutional clarity makes it harder.

I think this day is coming, but I'm resisting it. With handwritten scaffolding and other in-person assignments, I am still having students turn in essays electronically. In the spring, the AI percentage was probably under 20% (probably 10% detected, I would say) on average.

FWIW, I think Trump was trying to say that the point of the Iran war was to prevent a nuclear attack on LA or San Diego--that, if there were no war, that's what would happen. But, to say what he did say, and thereby just show how much he is doing word salad all the time--and no one cares?

As will be apparent here, I'm not an economist. But, if I were a Keynesian economist, I might talk to a supply-sider to see what my way of viewing things is missing. Even conceptual frameworks that are generally true have their blind spots.

True. But it raises the question of why far right parties have become so central across the globe. They were not always so, and this many people did not always want this.
