Is this dumb? Is this a stupid idea? Using one of these to build my own voice-controlled home assistant node? I can easily add Whisper, Piper & openWakeWord to the #homelab. I have enough spare compute to host the dumbest, but functional-enough, model to process commands. Do I really need this?

To all the people on Reddit's homelab subs panicking about your services being DDoS'd, I am begging you to use a VPN. If you need to access your self-hosted source forge there is no reason you can't VPN into your home network from whatever device you're using. Bots can't hit what they can't see.

Wow, everyone. See that tiny row of black dots? Each one is a cocktail recipe I painstakingly verified by hand from “Sloppy Joe's Cocktails Manual” published in 1931. That brought the verification progress from 1.2% to 1.5%! Almost there!

We just rolled out a big overhaul to the playtest, so if you have access to that on Steam, you should re-install it. Major changes to lighting, new cutscenes, and the first look at the S3PF Command hub is all available. Proper announcement and trailer coming next month.

One way to bypass the use of copyrighted material, specifically cocktail photographs and descriptive prose, is to create a spec around what defines a cocktail and the associated recommended glassware… and then algorithmically generate the art yourself. I should note that no AI was needed for this.

MacMini has been delivered! Managed to upgrade the RAM and get it sorted for installing #proxmox. Needed to take a moment to admire how much engineering when into this kit. Say what you will about Apple, they design great hardware!

Enriched all my old cocktail data. Sourced dozens of public domain cocktail books from archive.org, extracted text layers, used Tesseract & Pillow if one didn't exist. Created a spec to normalise all the data. Now I can plot a single drink's history, changes, and its derivatives across a timeline.

Added a dot-matrix progress graph as a fun way to indicate how much progress is to be made before I'm happy with releasing the collated dataset to the world. This will grow as I add more sources and recipes. Best case, there will be between 4k and 5k recipes total. tipplers.gallery
