ɯlǝɥlᴉʍ @wilhelm.codes · 28/09/2026Is this dumb? Is this a stupid idea? Using one of these to build my own voice-controlled home assistant node? I can easily add Whisper, Piper & openWakeWord to the #homelab. I have enough spare compute to host the dumbest, but functional-enough, model to process commands. Do I really need this? 311
ɯlǝɥlᴉʍ @wilhelm.codes · 27/09/2026Got bored and added light cycles and exploding breached nodes to "The Grid" on my toy domain's landing page. Give it a go and watch the fun! nightcity.network 000
ɯlǝɥlᴉʍ @wilhelm.codes · 24/09/2026Every day when I am exposed to new man-made horrors beyond my comprehension. 001
ɯlǝɥlᴉʍ @wilhelm.codes · 22/09/2026Wow, everyone. See that tiny row of black dots? Each one is a cocktail recipe I painstakingly verified by hand from “Sloppy Joe's Cocktails Manual” published in 1931. That brought the verification progress from 1.2% to 1.5%! Almost there! 010
ɯlǝɥlᴉʍ @wilhelm.codes · 20/09/2026Definitely CPU bound. I wonder if adding more cores would scale processing linearly. 000
ɯlǝɥlᴉʍ @wilhelm.codes · 20/09/2026Getting AudioMuse to index my modestly-sized digital music library so I can get more dynamic instant playlists via Navidrome… Only 18 more hours to go… 100
ɯlǝɥlᴉʍ @wilhelm.codes · 20/09/2026I'm a whopping… 2.3% finished verifying all my ingested cocktail specs. I'm going to be here all night. 😅 000
ɯlǝɥlᴉʍ @wilhelm.codes · 18/09/2026One way to bypass the use of copyrighted material, specifically cocktail photographs and descriptive prose, is to create a spec around what defines a cocktail and the associated recommended glassware… and then algorithmically generate the art yourself. I should note that no AI was needed for this. 100
ɯlǝɥlᴉʍ @wilhelm.codes · 18/09/2026MacMini has been delivered! Managed to upgrade the RAM and get it sorted for installing #proxmox. Needed to take a moment to admire how much engineering when into this kit. Say what you will about Apple, they design great hardware! 000
ɯlǝɥlᴉʍ @wilhelm.codes · 17/09/2026Enriched all my old cocktail data. Sourced dozens of public domain cocktail books from archive.org, extracted text layers, used Tesseract & Pillow if one didn't exist. Created a spec to normalise all the data. Now I can plot a single drink's history, changes, and its derivatives across a timeline. 100
ɯlǝɥlᴉʍ @wilhelm.codes · 16/09/2026Added a dot-matrix progress graph as a fun way to indicate how much progress is to be made before I'm happy with releasing the collated dataset to the world. This will grow as I add more sources and recipes. Best case, there will be between 4k and 5k recipes total. tipplers.gallery 000
ɯlǝɥlᴉʍ @wilhelm.codes · 16/09/2026Yeah, Okay, this is definitely going to be a thing now. Plant Smart is effectively “done”, so why not make another? 100
ɯlǝɥlᴉʍ @wilhelm.codes · 14/09/2026And, if you install the `ltex-ls-plus` package from homebrew and integrate it into Neovim, you get inline diagnostics for free: 000
ɯlǝɥlᴉʍ @wilhelm.codes · 14/09/2026Self-hosted LanguageTool plus Harper are just… 😗👌 Though, odd UI quirk, if you've installed both browser extensions they will be triggered by the same grammar mistake. You'll get two context modal placed atop one another. 100
ɯlǝɥlᴉʍ @wilhelm.codes · 10/09/2026Isn't this just a newer / realized version of their cancelled Courier concept from 2010? I've always liked the idea. 110
ɯlǝɥlᴉʍ @wilhelm.codes · 10/09/2026My kingdom for 7 x 2.5Gbe Flex Ports for my homelab's minis. Why is it so hard to source these parts from Australia? 000
ɯlǝɥlᴉʍ @wilhelm.codes · 10/09/2026One my favourite things I've recently added to my blog's design is a "mini changelog" at the bottom of each article. This data is sourced directly from the associated file's git history at compile time by Hugo. You can see a fun little timeline of all my stupid missed steaks. 110
ɯlǝɥlᴉʍ @wilhelm.codes · 26/08/2026Well said and the timeline agrees! My Open Graph image rotates through a few quips at random and today it picked "Perpetually one refactor from perfection." Nice juxtaposition. 110
ɯlǝɥlᴉʍ @wilhelm.codes · 25/08/2026The final optimization of my blog shrank the single largest remaining remaining file, the favicon, from 7kb to just under 3kb. It was originally 1/3 of the page's cached download size. It's now an 1/8. The cached main page is now ~7.5kB. lol... lmfao 100
