If I'm generous, about a 3rd of the He-Man movie worked for me. The idea is absolutely fine, the execution is extremely hit and miss; and more miss for me. It probably needed to go full on camp, but was too scared to. Plus, you seriously have to question any movie where Jared Leto is the highlight.

ULEZ and AI at work for the UK Government, providing value in incorrectly identifying cars. Neither the photo or the incorrect translation of the reg are my car. CD64 VPV isn't even a valid number plate. And yet, with all of these errors, they didn't hesitate to incorrectly auto-bill me. Fabulous!

Today was my last day at Google. I have made a conscious choice of leaving for better. I am looking forward to spending more time with my kids, family and friends. I am looking forward to not yelling at my kiddo when he comes into my office because I am still busy until 7 PM due to some broken shit. Because we no longer have a sensible software engineering process and everything is rushed.
I am also looking forward to sleeping through the night without getting paged at 2 AM! Why and for what you ask? Because a job that, I kid you not, literally needed 2 CPUs and 20GB of RAM could not start for some time. It was starved for 2 CPUs, when God knows how many hours of CPU and RAM resources are going into GenAl! I had to get up to get an emergency loan and ensure the job runs fine. And then not be able to go back to sleep until 5-6AM.
Furthermore, I am looking forward to thinking for myself and gaining some autonomy, rather than taking product and technical decisions made up by higher-ups and executives (who are probably using Al for those decisions) and feeding them to Al to generate garbage. This has become absolutely meaningless to me very quickly over the past year. I don't want to be just another execution arm for someone else.
Trust me, I am not against Al. Heck, I have a masters in Al. I use a lot of GenAl myself, but work has lost all meaning to me. This GenAl stuff and the way it is changing software engineering creative process might be cool and fun to someone without a computer science or software engineering background. It might give them a sugar high, making them think they have superpowers now, but I find absolutely no joy in it. Needless to say, the use of Al where it should not be used is reaching new levels of absurdity.
I want to go back to "basics" and think. I invite you to do that as well.
With that, cheers to a better tomorrow. Better for humans, not Al freaking agents!.

Regardless of what anyone says, the primary reason Labour are screwed and were always going to be screwed is the economy. They were never going to fix it in 5yrs, let alone 2; and world events have sealed the deal. Changing leader might save some votes, but expect a coalition in 3yrs.

Project Hail Mary - In Cinemas ⭐⭐⭐⭐ A fun, crowd pleasing, earth saving sci-fi, with broad appeal. A tad too long, but Gosling holds it all together brilliantly. Doesn't reach the heady heights of Interstellar, but aims for much lighter vibes.

I've heard a lot of positive things about Project Hail Mary, the book, but the movie trailers do not compel me to see it. Given we've already seen that Ryan Gosling isn't a bankable star with Fall Guy (which was great fun), it'll be interesting to see its first weekend box office numbers for PHM.

There's a lot of hate out there for AI, plenty of it warranted, but I definitely see the benefits of it in my day to day, helping me understand topics or giving me great examples of things I can then shape for my own purposes. I'm definitely more effective with it, but the cost is 🔥🌍😭

All three Lord of the Rings Extended Editions completed on back to back nights in the cinema. Completely worth the 12hrs invested and I can say with complete authority. 1. Fellowship of the Ring 2. Return of the King 3. The Two Towers The extended editions make The Two Towers drag.

Fantastic Four - in cinemas ⭐⭐⭐ Superhero movies are done. This was the acid test and it was fantastically forgettable, even with this great cast, styling and VFX. I enjoy most movies I watch, so just enjoying it isn't enough. It needs to burn brighter, clobber harder and not vanish from memory.

Superman ⭐⭐⭐ Dorky fun, night and day from Man of Steel and more like the OG. Well paced, uncomplicated plot. Visually well executed, stadium fight aside, where characters look like plasticine. Core casting is perfect, with other supporting characters adding to the fun. Krypto steals the show.
