D-Haas @wicketlink.bsky.social · 29/08/2026And do people still hate SW: TLJ? Because that's the best SW film by a mile. 010
D-Haas @wicketlink.bsky.social · 29/08/2026The Matrix Resurrections was an amazing film that was so much better than the movie people wanted it to be (and which it consciously chooses not to be). A true conversation between creator and audience. 100
D-Haas @wicketlink.bsky.social · 29/08/2026Make your favorite film sound as boring as possible without giving away the title: Someone pretending to be her dad sends a woman a Nazi video and she takes a trip to talk to him. 000

D-Haas @wicketlink.bsky.social · 19/08/2026bsky.app/profile/henr... this is an example study of what I mean by the potential long term effects being positive for those avoiding AI 010
D-Haas @wicketlink.bsky.social · 19/08/2026Me shaking my head at once again seeing Sen contextualize something that feels better and is healthier for her as "now I can be more productive" 020
D-Haas @wicketlink.bsky.social · 15/08/2026If we pretend it's half as good as a human, it's worth it as long as it costs 1/4 of a human salary but not worth it if it costs .75x The final numbers (both for how good it is and how much it costs) are what's undetermined 110
D-Haas @wicketlink.bsky.social · 15/08/2026Yeah but the "how cheap" I think will decide whether it is here to stay. Lots of evidence that companies are massively covering the costs. If each query cost you the actual price it costs to run, those mom and pops might not find it as worthwhile What happens when nobody is willing to pay? 110
D-Haas @wicketlink.bsky.social · 15/08/2026It's so hard on an app like this. But nuance does still exist! 010
D-Haas @wicketlink.bsky.social · 14/08/2026But we're all making bets on the future every day. At a minimum I agree everyone should be conversant in AI and its impact on their life. Can't bury my head in the sand just because I dislike the thing. 5/5 110
D-Haas @wicketlink.bsky.social · 14/08/2026I'm not all knowing. It could be here to stay. But I'm currently not convinced by it. There's a lot of "it will be this good/cost effective in the future" talk. And a lot of indications that the cost to run just might not ever be sustainable, not even including "eating the training data" problem 4/ 110
D-Haas @wicketlink.bsky.social · 14/08/2026I believe in women too, and I think it's a mark favorably that they tend to be more skeptical of the claims made about AI 3/ 110
D-Haas @wicketlink.bsky.social · 14/08/2026And we've seen examples of other technologies pitched as inevitable (looking at you vr/meta verse and crypto) with similar "get in early or you'll be left behind" pressure. 2/ 110
D-Haas @wicketlink.bsky.social · 14/08/2026My personal view is that "ai is inevitable" is a sales pitch not a true thing. I think the economics of it have not proven to be sustainable long term even if people do wish to adopt it. 1/ 110
D-Haas @wicketlink.bsky.social · 14/08/2026Definitely. And it's good to talk through solutions even when (and maybe especially when) we disagree on some things. 120
D-Haas @wicketlink.bsky.social · 14/08/2026As an AI skeptic (though not currently a woman), my personal view is that people avoiding AI sets them up for more long term success than people adopting it. I don't see LLM use as an inevitable part of life. But nobody knows the future and I could be wrong. 120
D-Haas @wicketlink.bsky.social · 14/08/2026I don't think she meant by veracity, I think she was saying that avoiding AI is a plus not a minus for women 230
