But making the computer fit the districts to the "logo" is fun...
The C in the site icon is drawn from the council's own geometry rather than illustrated. The three concentric bands symbolize the three at-large posts. The twelve navy seams running through them are the twelve council districts — each one its real boundary shape, taken from the city's official council district layer and placed in district order from the lower terminal around to the upper. It is generated by a script straight from the same polygons the maps on this site use, so when the districts are redrawn, the mark changes with them.

It attempts to show who votes together. Who shows up. Where money goes. Voting blocs, dissent patterns, attendance, dollar amounts attached to papers, district discretionary spending, settlements, zoning cases. All very boring stuff.

Update : City Zoning data has been integrated, including map filters and Leaderboard summaries. who-owns-atlanta.org Base data has not changed. Individual & Institutional changes were made causing insignificant changes in overall numbers, though did cause some ownership links/urls to change.
A screenshot of the who-owns-atlanta.org map interface showing the new zoning filters. A dropdown menu is
open with "Single-Family" selected under the "Home Type" category. In the background, a map of the Grove
Park and Simsille neighborhoods displays individual property parcels color-coded in red and blue.

Some builder names muddy things and are also skipped. See the top of github.com/Who-Owns-Atl... for those and how the network is built. Obviously that still leaves clusters unmatched, but the thinking is that under-matching is less messy than over matching. 2/2

Right, an absolute mess. Connections are made through ra names, sos officers, and sos addresses. The simplest are some "mined" constant block-lists that prevent connections. Those three also have a dynamic/tunable limit used as additional checks to allow skipping large chunks encountered. 1/2

Burying part of the lede, Atlanta neighborhood demographics are included to enrich the picture of each ownership cluster. This is, for example, the summary included for our cluster named "RS RENTAL I LLC" who-owns-atlanta.org/owner/28/
A dashboard titled "Atlanta Portfolio Analysis" detailing the demographics and economics of neighborhoods where a real estate portfolio's 178 city parcels are located.

Key sections include:
 - Neighborhood Income: The average neighborhood median income is $44,912. The majority of parcels are in "Low" (85) or "Low-Mid" (55) income areas.
 - Tenure & Concentration: 54.2% of households in these neighborhoods are renters. The highest concentrations are in Arlington Estates, Wildwood Forest, and Swallow Circle/Baywood.
 - Racial Composition: The neighborhoods are predominantly Black (87.7%), followed by White (5.3%), Hispanic (4.4%), and Asian (0.5%).
 - Home Values & Vulnerability: The average median home value is $224,268, with most homes valued between $150k-$300k. The area has a 6.4% poverty rate and 13.9% vacancy rate.
 - Maps: Two maps of Atlanta show the portfolio's parcels (marked with red dots) concentrated in neighborhoods with lower median incomes and higher renter concentrations.
 - Neighborhood Breakdown: Lists Grove Park (13 parcels) and Lakewood Heights (10 parcels) as top locations.

If that sounds familiar, good. It's based on taylorshelton.info/publication/... by @jtsphd.bsky.social & @ericseymour.bsky.social . Who owns Atlanta's adaptation is explained in who-owns-atlanta.org/methodology/. Further detail is available in the public GitHub repository github.com/Who-Owns-Atl...

Many property record investigations are stopped at an LLC name. This tool goes deeper by: * Clustering entities through shared addresses and registered agents * Matching names & addresses against 49M Secretary of State business filings * Linking out-of-state "SFR aggregators" to their local holdings
A table diplaying statistics by Corporate, Individual, and Institutional owners.
- Parcel Count: Individuals own 122,054 parcels (72.7%), Corporate owners have 30,391 (18.1%), and Institutional owners have 15,521 (9.2%).
- Avg Portfolio Size: Corporate owners have the largest average portfolio at 4.3 parcels, while Institutional (1.2) and Individual (1.1) owners have much smaller averages.
- % Out-of-State (Matched): Corporate owners have the highest out-of-state ownership at 13.6%, followed by Institutional at 2.1% and Individual owners at 0.0%.
