Today's workbench update: Half of a Spires Vanguard Clones box is built, I've got some Ironjawz Brutes on deck, and the previously assembleds bits of the Flying Hive Tyrant are off to the side with sprue goo drying as I want to make sure there won't be any noticeable seams.

All happy cause I thought I was FINALLY finished with the horns. Started shading the belly scales and realized I'd missed the bottom right cluster of three. Well, phooey. Sigh... tomorrow.

Guess I better increase the priority on checking out Red Claw then. ^_^ I buy a lot of stuff at Taps (especially paint), but yeah, those stairs are unfortunately a no go in my current condition. Mission is a place I want to visit more often, but StAT intercity frequency makes that complicated.

Good to know! Red Claw is probably the main one I'm going to be looking at checking out, as they have main level gaming, and we've been meaning to check them out. Taps unfortunately has all their gaming on the second floor, and I haven't asked, but it looks like it's only stairs to get up there.

Indeed! Two Rat Ogres from the Skaventide box and a Warlock Bombardier. All three are still on the workbench as I want to do some sort of basing to them. The two models on top of build manuals are a 40k Tyranids Flying Hive Tyrant, and an Age of Sigmar Ironjawz Megaboss.

Indeed! We'll ignore the moderately sized stack of sprues out of frame to the left for the time being, mainly because I can only work on so many projects at a time without getting bits confused!

Workbench update: there's a fair bit going on. Some things being cleaned up for assembly, some subassemblies waiting to dry so I can see if they need sprue goo to remove seam lines, and several items needing some sort of basing so they can be called assembled! #buildthestash #warhammercommunity

Thankfully, there are indeed several places I can play in town that aren't a GW store. I wholeheartedly agree, I'd rather make a memorable, enjoyable to paint model that's entirely and uniquely mine. Besides, it's a fun thing to do. I don't do it to every model, but still, it's fun.

What bothers me the most about Scalemates is the almost constant email notifications from them. Oh, is it a relevant one? No, it's "someone is selling something you've wishlisted" and you CANNOT turn those off.

Love the fact that you added a pirate flag after that! It's tempting, because I really, ~really~ want to have it wielding that big badass sword that comes in the kit AND one of the guns. Just feels right for a centerpiece model, y'know?

Getting an army built up is on the list (probably Hundred Kingdoms, since I only need to purchase one more box of Longbowmen, and build "a few" boxes). What places in town have regular play, out of curiosity?

Hmmmmm.... Build this Flying Hive Tyrant per the instructions, and have it legal for play, if it ever makes the table... Or kitbash it a bit, and make it look absolutely epic, probably not be legal for tournament play, but I don't play tournaments, so I don't really care about that part...

It's definitely an expensive one, but it's one of the few compact ones that's quiet but can sustain some of the higher flow airbrushes that are closer to sprayguns, like the Grex TG7. I'm still debating if getting my paws on a 0.7mm airbrush is into that "too overkill" territory though.

I suspect that wouldn't go over all too well. Probably best to look at an AS186K variant, or if you feeling like splashing the cash, one of the tanked Iwatas. I would absolutely LOVE to get my paws on an Iwata Power Jet Pro one of these days, but they're $700 CAD. It's a silent powerhouse though.

To me, that looks like a compressor you'd want in another room, or preferably a shed/garage, and you then run a hose to wherever you're airbrushing. I'm guessing anytime it fires up, it's going to be LOUD.

I have a Paasche D3000R (aka a fancier AS186K), and I think the longest I've pushed it is an hour and a half. It had no complaints. While it has a tank, it also has a fan built into it's design, but I don't know how effective that actually is with regards to cooling the compressor.

Re-did the eyes and got a start on the horns. There's so many of them at all these weird twisty angles that they're going to take a while, especially since I can only physically paint for an hour to an hour and a half on a good day. Have a week left to finish!

I'll go with the crashed Aquila Lander I painted in 2020/2021. I get the feeling it's going to take a bit more than some buffing to fix the problems this lander suffered.

It definitely has the most texture to it, as well as tonal variation... And out of the four, is the one I pick up and look at the most, so that's definitely saying something ^_^

Here's all four of those Talon Games CAV:Strike Ops bunkers together. I'm still debating which of the four I like the most, but I really do like how the green-blue one turned out, as well as just how earthy the orange one came out. #minipainting

Four 10mm scale bunkers next to each other. One is green-blue, one is hot pink, one is burnt orange, and the last is a fiery orange-red.
