There's room for a leftier YIMBY than Scott or Bilal, but we are honestly in a life expectancy situation for certain very influential actors. Wait another 10 years and we will be in a better situation.

young people, some of your elders will eat your future alive solely to make your town their own exclusive tomb, and you need to remember this when you vote

if they're pulling alarms over open weights' strengths in the same way, doesn't this blow a hole in the "they're exaggerating AI dangers to show their own power" argument?

a weird and disturbing side plot of the Trump years was discovering a crowd of nominally leftist guys who made it extremely clear their absolute, unconditional line in the sand was over there being any sort of consequences whatsoever for sexual assault

I ... do not like so much to think of what extreme acts might result from all of this. I cannot go through certain parts of Mission Bay and SOMA, and pass by certain buildings, without shuddering a little bit inside

Since everything is Glonzo nowadays, I wonder if you could get through water price reform with: "Making data centers (and other industries 😉) pay their fair share for the water they use!"

Never thought the family program that is GREAT BRITISH BAKING SHOW would fall so far to offer us this filth.
An older gentleman is shown on screen, with the subtitles saying:

“Gary's bringing something extra to the lemon party.”

yes, LLMs are only next-probable-word machines. words are a way we express advanced abstract concepts. you build abstract concepts and connect them and enrich them by hearing more words and learning from them against the words you have already heard. they encode meaning reasonably effectively.

Newsom’s car brain is so infuriating. - vetoed safety stop-as-yield (aka Idaho Stop) twice on spurious reasons. - cut active transportation in each budget (restored by legislature). - transferred e-bike rebate money to EV car rebate program.
