The Government says it wants to rebuild the public sector yet it is slashing jobs while paying a handful of public servants millions and outsourcing work to big consultancy firms. That’s not how you rebuild the public service. The government is burning up its APS targets.

A dozen federal public servants are earning over $1 million a year at the Future Fund Management Agency. We’re not talking about Secretaries who run big government departments but employees. How can the government justify this? What kind of APS work warrants $1 or $1.5 mil?

Albanese went to the UN championing international law and Australia’s role as a middle power. Fine words are not enough if the principles are applied selectively. Australia’s actions must match its rhetoric, Margaret Reynolds writes. #auspol #UNGA

Australia cannot champion international law selectively
Albanese used his UN address to champion international law, dialogue and Australia’s credentials as a middle power. The real test lies in whether those principles are applied consistently, from Gaza and AUKUS to climate, aid and Australia’s closest allies.
